Visitors to Glacier National Park’s Many Glacier area can choose from a few relatively short but invigorating hikes that will make them glad to be enjoying the experience in Glacier’s fresh, alpine air and renowned scenery.

  • Apikuni Falls Trail is an easy to moderate 1.1 mile hike located 1 mile east of Many Glacier Hotel. 
  • Ptarmagan Falls is a moderate 2.6 (one-way) trail that forks to Iceberg Lake and Ptarmagan Lake and Tunnel.

Overview

Located near Swiftcurrent Motor Inn & Cottages and Many Glacier Hotel, the Many Glacier hiking area offers hikes with views of waterfalls through lush alpine forest offering plenty of wildlife and outdoor photography opportunities.

Apikuni Falls
Trail Overview: This popular Many Glacier trail is generally good for most people with average fitness and abilities and treats hikers to a waterfall view. Trailhead: 1 mile east of Many Glacier Hotel.

  • 1.1 mile one-way 
  • 700 feet elevation gain 
  • Easy to moderate

Ptarmagan Falls
Trail Overview: After you check in to a Many Glacier lodging facility or campground, you can head out for a moderate hike that will lead you through lush national forest to waterfalls while you keep an eye out for wildlife along the way. Trailhead: Park near Iceberg Ptarmagan Trailhead sign or near Swiftcurrent Motor Inn & Cottages.

  • 2.6 one-way 
  • 700 feet elevation gain 
  • Moderate
