East Glacier, MT lies within the Blackfoot Indian Reservation and visitors can enjoy a number of activities in and around this small Montana town. The rugged peaks surround you and the outdoor recreation is marvelous. The interior of Glacier National Park is only minutes away.

East Glacier is located just east of Glacier National Park at the junction of US Highway 2 and Highway 49, in northwestern Montana.

- Hiking
It’s a real treat hiking around East Glacier, with both beginner and intermediate trails around Middle Two Medicine Lake and Upper Two Medicine Lake. View some incredible waterfalls on the Two Medicine River. Throughout the area, you’ll find over a thousand miles of hiking trails where you can enjoy views of snowy peaks, glaciers, pristine lakes and colorful wildflowers. - Wildlife Watching
Glacier National Park has a variety of wildlife, and it’s so close that you can’t miss taking an excursion from East Glacier to view the mountain goats, grizzly and black bears, bighorn sheep and more. - Fishing
Head up Two Medicine Road to get to the lakes where you can fish to your heart’s content. You’ll need a permit if fishing in the lower part of Two Medicine Lake as it’s on the Blackfoot Indian Reservation. But it’s worth the effort to obtain a permit, for you’ll catch some good-sized trout. Upper Two Medicine Lake is also a great place to go to throw in a line. - Scenic Cruises
You can rent a boat or take a scenic tour from an outfitter on any one of the following lakes: Two Medicine Lake, St. Mary Lake, Lake McDonald, Many Glacier Lake And Apgar Lake. - Winter Sports
Naturally the winters around East Glacier are perfect for any winter sport. You’ll get to experience skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling.

Visit the John L. Clarke Western Art Gallery & Memorial Museum while in East Glacier. You will marvel at the woodcarvings, original paintings and turquoise jewelry. Around 50 different artists are represented each season.
Getting Here
To get into the park from East Glacier Park, Montana, you head out of town on the Looking Glass Hill Road (Highway 49) and take the Two Medicine Road into the park.
To get to the Going to the Sun Highway that travels through Glacier National Park, take US Highway 2 for 55 miles to the west entrance, and turn onto the Going to the Sun Highway. It’s a one-hour and nine-minute trip from East Glacier to the west entrance through some incredible scenery.
Amtrak also stops right in East Glacier. There are two car rental companies located very close to the station and a few lodging and dining options are nearby. More info on riding the train to Amtrak.
